Holly Christine Callaghan is an Irish artist based in Wicklow, and mother of two, whose work explores the emotional landscape of motherhood, identity, and the female experience. Working across painting and illustration, her figurative compositions combine realism with symbolic imagery to reflect the inner world of early motherhood, a time often experienced as both tender and overwhelming.
Drawing from her own experience as a mother, Holly’s work seeks to honour the fleeting moments of early parenthood while acknowledging the emotional complexity that accompanies them. Her paintings often blend intimate domestic scenes with symbolic elements, inviting viewers to reflect on themes of transformation, memory, and care.
Her work recently exhibited at the Copperhouse Gallery in Dublin and has been featured in national media including the Irish Independent, Q102, and Ireland AM. Alongside her fine art practice, Holly also works as an illustrator, creating artwork for publishing and film.
